Making your own sugar wax allows you to achieve professional results in your own home.

Waxing is a painful process, but equally painful is the cost of a professional waxing job or to purchase at-home waxing kits. By using a few simple ingredients that you already have around your home, you can prepare your own sugar wax for a fraction of the cost that a professional charges. Having your own sugar wax also means not having to wait for an appointment or go to a salon. You can achieve professional results in your own home. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Juice the lemon into a bowl, or pour an equivalent amount of bottled lemon juice. Combine the sugar, water and honey to your lemon juice. Mix them well. Honey is difficult to work with and may require some extra mixing time. You want your mixture to have an even coloration throughout as well as an identical texture. Make sure to avoid letting any of your ingredients settle at the bottom.

    • 2

Turn your stove on low heat. Pour your mixture into a saucepan. Place the saucepan over the heat and stir your mixture gently but consistently, throughout the cooking process. Cook your mixture until the sugar has completely melted. When ready, the color will turn to a dark brown. This process may take as long as 15 minutes. Make sure that your mixture is thoroughly cooked. Granulated sugar that has not melted completely will cause your mixture to work less effectively during application.

    • 3

Move the saucepan off the heat to let it cool. Once cooled, pour the liquid into a clean jar. Seal the jar with an airtight top and store. The refrigerator works well, but if you store it in cold you will have to let it warm up before using it. Remove the mixture from your refrigerator and let it sit in a warm place for a few hours before using it. Do not reheat the mixture in your microwave as this can damage its consistency and make it difficult to achieve good results.

    • 4

Use a spatula to apply the mixture. Remember to reseal your mixture after use. Wipe off the outsides of your jar to ensure that it does not attract insects into your home. The waxing process is painful, but using this sugar wax will keep the treated area hair-free for up to six weeks and re-grown hair will be finer and easier to wax later.
