How Do I Access Taillight on a 2005 Dodge Minivan?

Dodge made two minivans for the 2005 model year--the Dodge Caravan and the Dodge Grand Caravan. These minivans are identical, except that the Grand Caravan is slightly longer. The way you gain access to the taillight bulbs is the same in either 2005 Dodge minivan. Once you gain access to the bulbs, you can remove them and replace them with ease.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Dodge minivan's engine off and engage the parking brake pedal for safety. Step out of the van and approach the rear.

    • 2

Open the back gate. Look against the cargo wall on the side with the taillight that you want to access. On the inside part of the taillight, you'll see two large plastic screws.

    • 3

Insert the head of a flat-head screwdriver underneath the fasteners. Pry up to remove the fasteners from the cargo wall, grasp the taillight assembly and pull it rearward.

    • 4

Squeeze the base of each electrical connection on the back of the assembly. Pull the connection away to disconnect it from the taillight assembly. This gives you access to the taillight bulb. Gently turn the taillight bulb counterclockwise to remove it.
