How to Transfer Money From a Checking Account Online thumbnail
With a few clicks of the mouse, you can transfer money online.

Your checking account is the place where you keep the money you use on a daily basis. You can write checks, withdraw money from your checking account to pay in cash or use a check-card to make purchases that come out of your checking account. You can also transfer money from a checking account online, to make purchases, pay bills or put money into an online account to use in another way.

Instructions

Choose "Online Check" or "Pay By Check" at an online retailer or company such as a utility company. You can also choose "Pay by Check" at sites such as your gym, your library, or charity organizations you wish to pay. Input your checking account number, your routing number, and a check number for the transaction and click "Submit."

Transfer money from your checking account to an online account like Paypal, IKobo, or MoneyBrokers. Set up an account with one of the online money accounts mentioned. Choose "Add Bank Account" from your online account's menu list. Put in your bank account information. Once the program accepts your checking account, you can move money from your bank account to your online account, or from your online account to your bank account. Find these options under "Transfer" or 'Withdraw Funds" in your menu list.

Use your checking account at sites like MoneyGram, WesternUnion or BidPay to create a money order that someone can pick up or that you can send to a business for payment. Set up a transaction at one of these sites by choosing "Send Money." Put in the amount of money and the recipient. Then, put in your bank account number to send the funds from. Sometimes, there are additional steps, like putting in the bank's address or giving a PIN number to transfer money. These sites are safe because the checking account information you provide is only seen by the company and not by the third party you are paying with the money order.
