Connect your GeForece 8600 powered PC to an HDMI TV.

If you have an HDMI TV and a computer with a GeForce 8600 series video card, you have all the makings for a full-fledged mini-movie theater or a large format gaming arena. Although the GeForce 8600 series of video cards do not come with a native HDMI interface, you can easily connect to an HDMI TV with an adapter cable.

This will allow you to watch your favorite DVDs or play your favorite computer games on the usually much larger TV screen. Making the connection only takes a few seconds and, afterwards, setting up your computer only requires a few mouse clicks.

Instructions

    • 1

Shut down the computer and power it off. Turn off the HDMI TV.

    • 2

Plug the DVI end (end with four-sided adapter) of the adapter cable into the DVI connector on the video card. Carefully align the pins to avoid damaging the adapter or the connector on the back of the computer.

    • 3

Plug the other end of the adapter cable into an available HDMI port on the TV.

    • 4

Turn on the HDMI TV first and then the computer. Allow the computer to boot normally as you toggle the input sources on the TV with the remote control. Press the "input" button on the remote control until you see the computer screen display on the television.

    • 5

Right-click on the open desktop, then click on the "Screen Resolution" option on the pop-up menu. Click on the picture of the monitor with the number "2" on it.

    • 6

Set the desired resolution for the HDMI TV screen. Then, choose the "Extend these displays" option from the drop-down box next to the "Multiple displays" label. Click the "OK" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you have connected the HDMI TV to your computer, adjust the TV's resolution settings by using the on-screen menu controls and the remote control.
