How to Find Locations With Tom Tom
TomTom is a brand of GPS devices. Many customers purchase TomToms to use in their vehicles while driving. To start using your TomTom, you must input an ending point into the device. Once the destination is entered, TomTom will search for your current location and provide step-by-step directions to your destination point. Make sure your TomTom is charged, and if possible, keep your TomTom plugged in to your car's charging outlet (cigarette liter).

Power on your TomTom.

Press the TomTom's screen with your finger to go to your "Home screen."

Press "Navigate to..." on the Home screen.

Select the "Address" icon with your finger.

Select one of the following options: "City center," "Street and house number," "Cross street or intersection," or "Zip Code." City center will allow you to set the center of a city or town as your destination. Street and house number will allow you to input the exact street address as your destination. Zip code will allow you to input a zip code as your destination. Cross street and intersection will allow you to set your destination as the point where two different streets intersect.

Type the name of the city, street and house number or cross street and intersection, depending on the option you selected. If you selected zip code, you will be promted to enter the zip code. To type, press the letters that correspond to that city name in the keyboard that appears on your screen. To type numbers, select the "123" button at the bottom of your on-screen keyboard. A number pad will then become available.

Type the name of the street when prompted. Enter the house or building number.

Press "Done" at the bottom of your keyboard when you have finished entering in your destination information. Press "Done" again when you are ready for your TomTom to start directing you to your destination.

Tips & Warnings
To get an alternative route, press "Find alternative" at the bottom of your screen. The TomTom will then ask you to select alternative options such as toll-free or no highways.
You may also find a point of interest such as a mall, hotel or tourist attraction by selecting "Point of Interest" on the Home screen. Then select the type of place you are looking for (e.g., restaurant or hotel). A list of establishments that match that criteria close to your current location will be listed. Select one of the options and you will be directed to that place.
