The transmission dipstick tells if you have enough transmission fluid in your Axiom.

Filling transmission fluid in a 2002 Isuzu Axiom SUV is a fairly simple procedure that must be performed while the vehicle is at operating temperature. The dipstick readout tells you if more fluid is needed based on where the car's fluid falls in reference to the two measuring lines. If fluid falls below the bottom line, you need more transmission fluid. The ideal readout is when transmission fluid measures to the middle portion, in between the top and bottom lines.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the car in "Park" and engage the emergency brake. Make sure you are parked on an even surface. Turn on the car's ignition.

    • 2

Let the car idle for 20 minutes so the engine warms up.

    • 3

Pop the hood of the car.

    • 4

Pull the transmission dipstick out and wipe it down with a rag. Re-insert it into the transmission.

    • 5

Take the dipstick from the transmission once more.

    • 6

Read the fluid levels indicated by the measuring lines on the dipstick. If the fluid level falls at or below the bottom line, you need more fluid. If if falls at or above the top line, you have enough fluid.

    • 7

Add more transmission fluid if needed and re-check the levels until your car has enough fluid. When finished, replace the dipstick, close the hood and turn your car off.
