Extra-virgin olive oil is the least processed form of olive oil.

Olive oil, high in antioxidants, is often used in skin cleansers. While you can purchase expensive commercial cleansers that contain olive oil, it's likely that such cleansers also contain non-organic additives, chemicals and fragrances that can be absorbed by and irritate your skin. Instead of investing money into a commercial cleanser, you can make your own organic cleanser with olive oil, and other natural ingredients, at home. When you create your own cleanser, you know, firsthand, what's in it. This knowledge can give you piece of mind about what you are applying to your face. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 2 tbsp. of sunflower seed oil, avocado oil, almond oil or apricot kernel oil through a funnel into a plastic squirt bottle or glass bottle.

    • 2

Add 2 tbsp. of extra-virgin olive oil to the bottle. Close the bottle lid tightly and shake for 10 seconds to mix.

    • 3

Make a 1/4-inch slit in a large vitamin E capsule with the sharp point of a knife. Squeeze the capsule over the funnel so that the liquid vitamin E drips down into the bottle.

    • 4

Add 20 drops of lavender or sweet orange oil to the bottle. Close the lid tightly and shake for 10 to 15 seconds to thoroughly mix all ingredients.

    • 5

Pour or squirt some of the organic cleanser on a cotton cleansing pad or soft cloth. Wipe your face, throat, decolletage or other areas of the body with the cleanser to remove makeup, dirt and impurities. Follow with a toning or astringent solution.
