How to Save an Internet Page to a Word Document

Microsoft Word is a designed to let users compose and format text documents such as letters, articles and essays. Word documents can also contain image objects, hyperlinks and information copied from web pages. Some web pages contain lists of information that may be useful to save as a Word document. MS Word can be used to open web pages and save text information.

      Open Word, then open your web browser and go to the web page that you want to copy to Word.

      Go back to Word, hold down the "Control" key and then press "O." An "Open File" window will appear.

      Change the value in the drop-down box in the bottom right corner of the open window to "All Files."

      Click on the "File Name" field and then type in the URL of the web page.

      Click "Open." The content on the web page will appear in Word.

      Hold down the "Control" key and press "S" and then click "Save" to save the file. You can choose to save the page as a Word document by changing the dropdown value called "Save as type" to "Word Document" before clicking "Save."

Tips & Warnings

  • An alternate way to copy web content to Word is to go to a web page, hold "Control" and then press "A" to select all the objects on the page, hold "Control" and then press "C" to copy all the content to the clipboard, open MS Word, click on the document and hold "Control" and press "V" to paste the content into the document.
