How to Make Money Games

How to Make Money Games thumbnail
Money games teach children how to properly handle finances.

A good way to teach your children about money is to create some games that will teach them how to spend and manage it wisely. When children learn the value of having a healthy view of finances, they'll grow up to become adults who will have greater financial stability and less stress. When you create money games, it's important that the games are appropriate for your child's age so that he or she can understand the lessons you're trying to teach.

Instructions

    • 1

Create games that deal with real-life financial experiences. If you're interested in teaching your child how to spend within his means, play an allowance game with him by giving him a certain amount of money and asking him to find items that are within his budget and that would enable him to have allowance money left over at the end of the week. Then, if he's successful, fix his favorite meal.

Incorporate humor into the game. If you're teaching your child how to fill out a check, purchase some fake checks from the toy store and let your child draw on the top of the check. Then let her give you the check and, in turn, give her a few fake twenty-dollar bills. Finally, take your child's check and put it in your scrapbook.

Create mentally challenging games. If you want your teenager to learn how to read a credit card statement, give him an old credit card statement of yours and let him study it for a few minutes. Then write down ten questions that will test his knowledge of credit card statements. If he gets five out of ten questions right, take him to his favorite retail store.
