The Hypercom T7Plus terminal allows you to process credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) for groceries. The machine works over your business's telephone line by dialing into a remote server to obtain payment approval. Although the terminal comes with a full user manual that describes its features, you can start with just a few basics.

Instructions

      Plug the AC adapter into the power port on the back of the Hypercom terminal. Connect the other end to an electrical outlet.

      Connect a telephone cord between the telephone port on the back of your terminal and your wall telephone jack.

      Lift the paper cover lid on the top of your terminal. Place a roll of thermal print paper inside the paper holder. Pull the end of the printer paper through the paper cover. Let down the lid.

      Press the “Credit” button if a customer is using a credit card. Press the “Debit” button if she is using a debit card. Press “Email” if customer is using an EBT card. If you are uncertain, ask the customer which type of card she is using.

      Swipe the customer's credit card all the way through the card reader slot. The magnetic strip on the card should face away from the outer edge of the terminal.

      Enter the amount of the sale. Press “Enter”.

      Wait for the transaction to be approved. The receipt will print out with an approval number. This indicates a successful transaction.

      Ask the customer to sign the merchant copy of the receipt if the customer used a credit card.

      To issue a refund press “Credit” or “Debit”, depending upon the card type. Swipe the customer's card through the reader. Enter the amount of the refund and press “Enter”. You will see the approval number indicating that the refund was successfully processed.

      Print a batch report at the end of the day. This will reflect all purchases processed by the machine that day. To print the batch report press “Settle”. Enter your PIN or password. Press “Enter”. Press “0”. Press “Yes” to confirm the sales and refunds processed for the day. Wait for the report to print.
