When you have a 1606 error, which commonly occurs when you try to remove an application such as Java, you can resolve this problem if you know the correct data to input into your computer.

Instructions

      Go to your "Start" menu and click "Run."

      Enter the phrase "regedit" and hit the "Enter" button.

      Click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" in your computer registry editor.

      Right-click your mouse on the words "Common Administrator Tools" on your registry editor screen.

      Enter the phrase "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools" in the data window.

      Click "File" and hit "Enter."

      Reboot your laptop or desktop.
