How to Reset a Sonicwall Pro 2040
Sonicwall is an American Internet appliance company based in San Jose, Calif. The company manufactures a range of external firewall devices designed to protect computer networks from Internet threats like viruses, spyware and Trojan horses. You may need to reset your Sonicwall Pro 2040 if you experience problems with the firmware or if you want to return the device to its factory settings. You should allow approximately 10 minutes for this task.

Connect a computer to the Sonicwall Pro 2040 via a LAN port. Set up your computer to use IP address 192.168.168.20.

Insert the paper clip into the small reset hole on the back of the Sonicwall Pro 2040. Hold the button down for 10 seconds. The reset hole is unmarked and located between the power and first Ethernet port.

Open a new Web browser window and navigate to 192.168.168.168. Press "Enter." The "SafeMode" management screen will appear.

Click the "Boot" icon next to "Current Firmware with Factory Default Settings" to restore the device to factory settings. The "Boot" icon is a hand with a pointed index finger. Alternatively, click the "Boot" icon next to Current Firmware to re-start the device with your current settings.
