How to Put Windows on 1Gb Flash Drive

Install VistaPE to a USB flash drive to have access to a portable operating system.

WinBuilder uses the system files on your Windows Vista DVD to create a light-weight, compact version of your operating system called VistaPE. While Windows Vista requires a drive to have a minimum of 15 gigabytes of space available, users can install VistaPE to a one gigabyte flash drive and still have space left over for other files.

A USB stick installed with VistaPE will allow you to not only access your OS from almost any computer, but also boot to your PC if Windows Vista fails to load for any reason.
