on 12/22/2008 jbiphillips - continued: We have indoor coloring and lite crafts for those that can't handle the cold weather (it is in Richmond, VA but can still be brisk at that time of year). We have make your own noise maker decorating inside as well. We do 3 Pinatta's to make sure all the age groups get to participate. We have loads of glow sticks and everyone has funny hats (as they all have their coats on). Then at 9:00 we do a balloon drop. Sing Auld Lang Syne and a toast. The kids go crazy and everyone is ready to go by 10:30 pm. A little clean-up and ready to plop in front of the TV for the balloon drop. Next morning we awake refreshed and everyone has had a great time. We are up to 34 families this year.

on 12/22/2008 WE are now on our 4th year of New Years at Nine Celebration. This is an outdoor party and everyone contirbures a bit here and there. The invite starts out like this: "When the New Year approaches, the little one usually sleep through the occasion. Which is why we are having an New Year's at Nine Celebration." Not to mention fighting over who is going to get the only available babysitter and then spending all that money. We start at 5 and everyone brings an hors or dessert, we provide adult and kids drinks. The kids play in the back yard on the play set and trampoline and there is always a touch football game for the boys. We have an outdoor fire and roast marshmellows and hot dogs on a stick. We

on 8/8/2006 We always invite plenty of other families with kids over for nibbles and drinks. For the kids there is music playing outside with their own dance floor and we set up a cocktail bar serving slime punch! There are lots of outside toys, like pop-up tents, then we round off the evening with a treasure hunt with the pi├▒ata being the treasure.
