How to Word a Baby Shower Invitation in Spanish
The baby shower, a celebration of the imminent birth of a child, is primarily an American tradition that gained popularity after World War II. Guests give gifts to the expecting parents to help them prepare for their child's arrival. This concept has become increasingly popular in many Spanish-speaking countries throughout Latin America and among Spanish speakers in the United States. Baby shower invitations are typically written with less formal wording than those for weddings or baptisms.

1
Note at the beginning of the invitation that the event is a baby shower for a specific person or family. This can be done from the perspective of the baby: "A baby shower is going to be held for my mother Sara Jones" or "Le estan preparando un baby shower a mi mama Sara Jones." Direct wording is also appropriate: "You are invited to my baby shower" or "Te invito a mi baby shower."
-
2
Add information about the shower's events including games ("juegos"), prizes ("premios"), food ("comida") and gifts ("regalos"). A phrase such as "we will have games, food and surprises for everyone" can be translated to "tendremos juegos, comida y regalos para todos" or "tendremos rica comida, juegos y bonitos premios" in Spanish.

3
State where the baby shower will take place. The word for place in Spanish, "el lugar," followed by a colon should precede the address.
-
4
Include the date and time of the event. The date is indicated by the Spanish words "la fecha" or "el dia" and the time by "la hora." The date and time can also be written out like "Thursday, January 12 at 5 p.m." or "El jueves 12 de enero a las 17:00 hrs."
-
5
Give contact information so guests can RSVP. Information about where to RSVP is preceded with a phrase such as "Por favor comfirma tu asistencia al" or "Please RSVP to" in English.
-
6
Conclude with a phrase like "don't miss it!" This can be translated as "No faltes!" or "No faltes...te esperamos!"

Consult a Spanish dictionary for translation assistance.
Take care when using commands in Spanish and when choosing between formal and informal forms of address.
