Many cordless phones include a rechargeable battery that is replenished by connecting the phone to an included charging dock. Over time, the battery becomes less efficient and won't hold a charge as readily. This means you need to replace it. You can find a replacement battery for your cordless phone by contacting the phone's manufacturer, checking the appropriate battery type online or by bringing the phone or its model number to your local electronics or office-supply store.
Things You'll Need
- Replacement battery
Remove the cordless phone from its charging dock and find the battery bay cover. This is usually located on the back of the phone, opposite of the dialing keys.
Remove the battery bay cover. Most phones only require you to press down on the cover using your thumb and slide it outward. Others may require the use of a screwdriver. This depends on the model.
Lift the battery from the battery bay and disconnect the battery cable from the phone. Not all cordless phone batteries connect using a cable.
Connect the replacement battery cable to its input inside the battery, if your phone's battery connects to the phone using a cable. If not, align your battery so it fits into the battery bay properly. Many phones may have a picture printed inside the battery bay displaying the correct alignment. Others have connectors that must touch the connectors on the battery itself.
Replace the battery bay cover and slide it shut. Screw on the cover if applicable.
