How to Program Seats for a 2006 Chevy Silverado

Some 2006 Chevrolet Silverado trucks come equipped with a feature known as "memory seats." This feature allows the vehicle owner to program the seats for up to two drivers. The memory seats feature only applies to the driver-side seat, however. Programming the seat is helpful if multiple drivers use the same truck--by recalling his programmed seating position, a driver can instantly readjust the seat to the desired comfort level.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit inside your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Crank the engine. Locate the memory seat controls on the driver's side door panel--you'll see a seat icon and two buttons: "1" and "2."

    • 2

Adjust the seat to the desired position. Locate the power-seat controls on the left side of the driver's side seat. Push the bottom bar forward to scoot the seat forward; push it back to scoot the seat back.

    • 3

Push the bottom bar up or down to adjust the height of the seat.

    • 4

Push the rear bar on the power-seat controls back or forward to adjust the recline position of the seat back.

    • 5

Push the circular arrows on the power-seat control to adjust the seat lumbar. The lumbar either applies or releases pressure against your back. Adjust this setting until you find a comfortable position.

    • 6

Push and hold the "1" button on the driver's side door panel for approximately three seconds: You'll hear a chime. This tells you that the seat has been programmed for the first driver. Repeat the entire process for driver two, if you want to program an additional seating configuration--press and hold "2" instead of "1."

    • 7

Recall the programmed seating position by pressing either the "1" or "2" button after sitting down inside your Silverado. The seat will automatically move and adjust itself to the chosen programmed position.
