How to Highlight Curly Hair at Home
Highlighting hair at home is an ideal way to get the stylish and trendy look of highlights without shelling out big bucks for a professional styling job. Working with curly hair can make the process a bit tricky, as the curls must be separated from the rest of the hair to get the detailing typical of most highlighting jobs. You can solve this problem by using an at-home highlighting technique of encasing each highlighted strand of hair in a square of aluminum foil. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Aluminum foil
- Scissors
- Highlighting mix
- Gloves
- Brush applicator
- Timer
- Shampoo

Cut about 20 squares of aluminum foil to about 3 inches by 3 inches and set aside.

Mix your at home highlighting kit, found at most drug stores or beauty-supply stores.

Place a strand of hair at the crown of your head on top of an aluminum foil square. Dip your applicator brush into the highlighting mix and coat the strand of hair. Wrap the edges of the aluminum foil over the strand of hair like you're wrapping a present. Repeat with about 20 strands of hair around your crown and face.

Set timer for 20 minutes and let highlight process.

Remove aluminum foil squares and wash hair out with shampoo.
