How to Make an Adobe Dreamweaver Hotspot

If you have an image on a Web page that you are developing using Dreamweaver, and you want to link that image to more than one website, you can create hot spots using the program's Image Maps feature. For example, if you have a group picture of a city council, but want users to click on an individual council member to go to his specific page, you can create hot spots to help you accomplish this.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Insert" menu and select "Image." Navigate to the image you want to insert in the page and click "OK."

    • 2

Click on the image as it now appears on your Dreamweaver screen.

    • 3

Click the rectangular hot spot tool at the bottom of the "Properties Inspector" box.

    • 4

Click and drag your mouse over a section of the image to which you want to assign a hot spot.

    • 5

Type the URL you want to open when the user clicks on the hot spot after the page is made live in the "Link" field.

    • 6

Press "CTRL" and "S" to save the page.

    • 7

Repeat steps 2 through 6 as many times as necessary to create additional hot spots.
