Restoring the plastic chrome on your vehice gives it a clean, new look.

Many cars have one or more pieces of chrome-plated plastic on their exterior, whether it be on the grill or the hubcaps. Over time, the plastic chrome can become dingy or foggy. Thankfully, there is a quick fix using only a few cleaning materials.

Things You'll Need

  • Bucket
  • 5 cups all-purpose automobile cleaner
  • 4 cups of warm water
  • Sponge
  • Soft toothbrush
  • Lint-free cleaning cloth

Instructions

    • 1

      Pour 5 cups of all-purpose automotive cleaner into the bucket. Add 4 cups of warm water.

      Dip sponge into the water and cleanser solution. Completely saturate the area you wish to clean.

      Scrub the affected area with the soft-bristled toothbrush, using small, circular motions.

      Rinse the plastic chrome with clean water.

    • 5

      Dry and shine the plastic chrome using the lint-free cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear rubber gloves to prevent drying of the skin.

  • Do not treat plastic chrome as if it were actual chrome, as most chrome cleaners are abrasive and will damage plastic.
