How to Remove Grid Lines

Grid lines are lines that cross in a document. Microsoft Excel uses grid lines in its spreadsheet software, but sometimes you want to see the information without the vertical and horizontal boxes. Microsoft makes it easy to remove the grid lines and create a customizable spreadsheet document. By following a few simple steps, you can remove the lines in your spreadsheet.

Instructions

  1. For Excel 2003

      Select the cells in the spreadsheet from which you want to remove the grid lines. Do this by left-clicking on the mouse and holding it down as you move the cursor over the cells you want to select.

      Click on the "Format" menu at top of page.

      Click "Cells."

      Click on the "Patterns" tab.

      Click on the background color of the spreadsheet. In most cases, the color is white.

      Click on the "Border" tab.

      Click on the arrow in the "Colors" box. Click on the color of the gridlines. In most cases, the color is 25% gray.

      Click "Outline."

      Click on "OK." The grid lines are now gone.

    For Excel 2007

      Open your spreadsheet.

      Click "View" on the taskbar.

      Look for the "Show/Hide" group.

      Clear the checkbox near "Gridlines" to uncheck the box. The gridlines disappear.

    For Excel 2010

      Click "File" in the taskbar. Click "Options." A dialog box will appear.

      Click "Advanced" in the right pane. Scroll to find "Display Options for this Worksheet," and click on it.

      Disable "Show Gridlines" by clicking on the check box to remove the check. The gridlines disappear.
