How Do I Make Stained Glass Patterns in Photoshop?

Photoshop allows you to mimic stained glass.

Converting your everyday photograph or illustration to a picture that is fragmented into a stained glass pattern is one way to create artistic and beautiful graphic designs. Adding a stained glass effect will make even a dull, overexposed or underexposed picture exciting and vibrant.



Creating a stained glass pattern in Photoshop is a simple task. Simply select the stained glass pattern effect from Photoshop's effects menu and apply it your photo or illustration. From there, you can then apply other Photoshop effects to add an extra touch of brilliance and realism.

Instructions

1. Activate Photoshop and create the Photoshop file. Select "New" on the main menu bar. Type "Stainedglass" in the Name text box in the dialog box that appears. Select "OK" to close the dialog box.

2. Select "Place" from the File menu, "File>Place." Browse your computer directory for a JPEG or GIF file to place. Select the file and select "OK." Double-click your mouse button anywhere on the stage. Select the "Place" option from the dialog box that appears.

3. Select "Filter>Texture>Stained Glass" from the main menu. Vary the cell size with the "Cell Size Slider." Vary the light intensity with the "Light Intensity Slider." Vary the border thickness with the "Border Thickness Slider." Vary all three of these settings until you have the stained glass effect you desire. Select "OK."
