How to Split Network Cables
Splitting network cables is necessary when you want to share an Internet connection between two computers or due to any other unforeseen circumstance that requires one connection between multiple computers or data receivers.
The process of splitting a network cable is not a difficult task.
Things You'll Need
- 3 Lengths of networking cable with RJ45 connectors already attached
- Type 4 pair 'Y' ethernet splitter
Instructions

Split your data port.

Plug one ethernet cable into the network data port and attach the other end to the single side of the type 'Y' ethernet cable splitter.

Plug one end of each of the remaining cables into the double side of the type 'Y' ethernet cable splitter.

Plug the other end of the now split cables into your computers or other network connected devices.

Tips & Warnings
An adapter may be necessary to connect the first network cable to the splitter depending on whether the splitter has a male or female connection.
The 'Y' adapter works by splitting an 8 cable signal into 2 4 cable signals. This means that you can only achieve a maximum of 10/100 Mbps network speeds.
