How to Disconnect a Car Alarm
Car alarms are useful in helping protect your car from theft by alerting you to a forceful opening of your car doors. There are occasional problems that can occur that will cause your alarm to malfunction and no longer serve its purpose. If you have an alarm in your car that goes off without provocation, or doesn't function as it should do, you can disconnect it to prepare it for accepting a new, working alarm system.
Instructions

1
Turn off your car engine and take the keys out of the ignition.
-
2
Set a flashlight pointing up, under the steering wheel. You need to be able to see the wiring above the brakes and gas pedal.

3
Locate the alarm box in the steering cavity. The box is usually a small, rectangular box with the brand of your alarm printed on it.
-
4
Feel around the box for the wires connecting it to your car's circuitry. Gently pull the wires loose to disconnect the alarm from the car.
-
5
Pull the alarm box out of the car and push the wires back into the steering cavity. If the box does not come out easily, check and make sure all of the wires are disconnected.

Tips & Warnings
Keep your alarm box wrapped up to protect it in case you ever want to use it in the future.
If you are not positive you have located the alarm box, do not disconnect any wires. Instead take your car to a mechanic for assistance.
