YouTube allows viewers to watch user-generated videos from around the world. It also serves as a place to interact with people online. You can respond to people's videos by uploading your own, comment on other people's videos and speak to other users privately through the website's mail system. You must have a YouTube account to use this feature.

Instructions

1. Sign into your YouTube account. The option to sign in is in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage. Enter your username and password, then click "sign in." If you have a Google account and are signed in there, clicking "sign in" on YouTube will automatically log you on to the site. Because Google bought YouTube in 2006, accounts on both sites are linked.

2. Click on your username in the upper right-hand corner. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on "inbox" in the left column.

3. Click on the message subject for any mail message in your inbox. The message will drop down in the same menu. You can read the message, then either delete or reply to it using one of the buttons at the bottom of the message.

Tips & Warnings

• Log out of YouTube after you are finished using it, especially if you are on a public computer.
