How to Import a TIF Into AutoCAD and LT

Adding TIF images to AutoCAD drawings is quick and easy.

AutoCAD is a widely used 2D and 3D drafting program that uses the DWG file format. You may need to add graphic files to your drawings. These are often company logos or other images that add information to the drawing. The TIF format is a high-quality graphics file.

1. Open AutoCAD by double-clicking on the icon.

2. Open the drawing to which you want to add the TIF image.

3. On the ribbon, choose the "Insert" tab, and from the "Reference" panel pick "Attach."

4. In the dialog box that opens, choose the TIF file you want to insert and click "Open."

5. In the next dialog box, click "OK." The TIF image will appear on the crosshair cursor. Left-click to place it, then right-click to accept the default scale.

6. Your TIF image is now placed into your drawing.

Tips & Warnings

• You can resize the TIF when you insert it by moving your mouse after you have placed it. Alternatively, after the image has been inserted, you can change it by clicking on it and then dragging the blue boxes (the grips) until it is the size required.
