The most popular ringtones are music ringtones, which allow you to hear your favorite songs play whenever you receive an incoming call. If you want to personalize your cellphone's ringtone, you can download ringtones from a computer to a cellphone.

      Connect the smaller end of the USB cord to the USB plugin on the cell phone. Connect the larger end of the USB cord to your computer's USB port.

      Click the "Start" button. Click "My Computer." Your cell phone is listed as a removable storage drive. Double-click on the drive to open it. Minimize the window.

      Locate the ringtone on your computer's hard drive that you want to download to the cell phone. Your ringtone might be a "Ringtones" folder that you created or your "My Music" folder, depending upon where you put it.

      Click on the minimized window located on the taskbar to pull it up again. Drag and drop the ringtone to the "My Sounds" folder of the cell phone. The ringtone is now on your cell phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon before disconnecting your cell phone from your computer.

  • You will have had to previously prepared an audio file to serve as a ringtone.

  • Beware of dragging and dropping the ringtone to the wrong folder because it will only show up on your cell phone as a ringtone if it is in the "Sounds" folder.
