How to Play an AVI File in Slow Motion
There are many different reasons why you might want to watch an AVI file in slow motion. You may want to see steps in greater detail. You may want to see how something was done in a slower speed so you can better understand it. Or you might just want to see if something when you slow it down. Whatever the reason, there are many different players that allow for variable speed playback of AVI files, and all are easy to use.

Using VLC Player

Download and install the VLC Player. Launch the program after installation is complete.

Go to "Media" then "Open File." Select the file you want to playback and click "Open."

Right click on the video once it begins playing. Go to "Playback" and select "Slower" to decrease speed. Selecting it again will make the video even slower.
Using Windows Media Player Classic - Home Cinema

Download and install Windows Media Player Classic - Home Cinema. Launch the program after installation is complete.

Go to "File" then "Quick Open File." Select the AVI file you want to play and click "Open." Playback of the video will begin.

Go to "Play" and then "Decrease Rate." Repeat this selection to decrease the speed even further.
Using GOM Player

Download and install the GOM Player. Launch the program after installation is complete.

Right-click on the program window and select "Open File(s)." Select the file you want to play and click "Open."

Slow down playback by pressing "x" on the keyboard. You can do this multiple times to slow down playback even more. Press "z" to revert playback back to normal speed.
