How Do I Replace a Canon I560 Print Head?

The Canon i560 printer uses liquid ink, housed in ink tanks that travel in an assembly inside the printer. Each ink tank contains a separate color ink. The printer sends electrical impulses to the different ink tanks, causing small droplets of ink to exit the tank. The droplets travel through one of a series of tiny nozzles before landing on a specific spot on the page as it passes through the printer. The print head contains the print nozzles, and it needs to be changed out periodically in the machine to maintain the print quality.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the printer. Open the output paper tray and top cover. Press on the tab in front of each ink tank and lift them out to remove them.

    • 2

Place the ink tanks on a paper towel in case one leaks. Lift up the gray, plastic lever on the cartridge assembly so that it points straight up.

    • 3

Grasp the print head by the side and lift it out of its slot. Place the new print head in the slot in the assembly.

    • 4

Lower the gray, plastic lever until you hear a click. Install each ink tank in its labeled spot, pressing on the top until each one clicks into place.

    • 5

Close the printer’s top cover. Wait for the printer to finish its self-calibration before sending any print jobs.
