How to Enable the Bluetooth for a Lenovo

Found This Helpful

Lenovo ThinkPad laptop computers come equipped with a Bluetooth button that is pushed to activate Bluetooth service. Before you can install a wireless Bluetooth device, like a mouse or full-sized external keyboard, you'll need to enable Bluetooth on your Lenovo. Some Lenovo models have the Bluetooth button on the hinge cover, while others have the button near the Bluetooth light or the LCD bezel. If you don't have a button, you can also manually enable Bluetooth.

Instructions

  1. Press the Bluetooth button to enable it. It will locate your wireless device and begin the pairing process.

  2. Manually enable Bluetooth by pressing the "Function" key and "F5" on your keyboard. This opens the "Wireless Radio Control" dialog box unless you've changed the default function key operations.

  3. Turn on "Integrated Bluetooth" in the "Wireless Radio Control" box.

  4. Go to the "Start" menu if you've changed the default function keys, and manually enable Bluetooth an alternate way. In the "Start" menu, click "Programs" then "Services," and look for the Bluetooth icon. Click on it, and turn Bluetooth on to enable the service.

Tips & Warnings

  • To pair a wireless device to your Lenovo, first enable the Bluetooth, then turn on the device. The two will automatically find each other. Enter the pass code, if necessary, to pair the device.
  • The Lenovo will turn Bluetooth off when it goes into hibernation mode or standby. You'll need to turn it on again when you wake the computer up.
