How to Dual Mount a Monitor

Mounting dual monitors to your computer allows you lots of extra desktop space to work on multiple files at once. Since Vista, Windows automatically detects when a second monitor is connected. You can then modify the settings for the dual monitors.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your computer. Connect your second monitor to the computer at the back in the spare jack on your graphics card. Graphics cards capable of mounting two monitors will usually have a VGA (blue) and DVI (white) jack. After the monitor is connected, power-up the computer.

    • 2

Click "Start," then click "Control Panel," then "Appearance and Personalization," then "Adjust Screen Resolution."

    • 3

Click "Detect" if Windows hasn't detected your second monitor. Click the "Multiple displays" drop-down menu and select "Extend these displays."

    • 4

Drag the monitor icons to the left or right to arrange them according to their physical location. Click "OK" to apply the changes.
