How to Change an Air Filter on a Ruud Furnace
If you want to get the most out of your Ruud furnace, try to keep the filter clean. Excessive dirt in the filter can hinder airflow, preventing the furnace from operating as efficiently as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn off the furnace. Changing the filter while the furnace is running can cause serious electrical shock.

Remove the old filter. Depending on the model of your furnace, the filter will be in a different place. On upflow furnaces, the filter is near the bottom. Pull up and out on the access door and remove it. Disengage the small rod holding the filter in place, then pull the filter out. For a downflow furnace, the filter is at the top. Remove the access door, then push up and in on the filter, popping it out.

Replace the filter. Put the new filter in place of the old one. If you have an upflow furnace, remember to put the retaining rod back into position.

Replace the access door. Don't forget to turn the furnace back on when you are finished.
