How to Kick a Foot Ball
The football is built to be kicked. It's right there in the name: Football. To most of the world, a football is a black-and-white round ball. But in the United States, a football is oval-shaped and brown. Kicking is essential to the game of football, whether on offense with field goals and extra points, or defense, with a well-placed punt or kickoff.

Place the football on the tee at a nearly 45-degree angle to the ground, leaning slightly toward you. The laces should be facing away from the kicker.

Stand three steps behind the football. If your are kicking with your right foot, you will want to stand two and a half steps to the left off the football. The stand the same distance to the right of the football if you are kicking with your left foot.

Run towards the football. Start on your non-kicking leg. Since you are three steps behind the football, the third step will have planting your non kicking foot one foot to the right or left of the football, depending on your starting position. Your toes on your planted foot should be facing your target.

Kick the football with the top-two inner shoelace eyelets on your kicking foot.

For a punt, start fifteen yards behind the line of scrimmage. This will give you plenty of room to run.

Hold the football parallel with the ground with the laces facing upward.

Run two steps in the direction you want to kick the football. Start with your kicking foot. Plant your non-kicking foot on the second step.

Drop the football just as you are completing your second step. Follow through with a hard upward kick, striking the ball with the top of your foot, not your toe, as it falls.
