How to Use a Laptop for a Wii Display

A USB TV tuner uses an available USB port on your computer.

The Nintendo Wii console is typically connected to a television to play various types of games. However, if you do not have a television handy or you travel, an alternative is needed to connect and use the console. One way to connect and play your Wii is to use your laptop display. Unfortunately, laptops do not have an input for a video signal. This means that you will need to use a USB TV tuner in order to connect the Nintendo Wii to the laptop.

Things You'll Need

• Laptop Computer
• Installation CD
• USB TV tuner
• Nintendo Wii
• AV multi out plug

Instructions

1. Insert the installation CD into the CD/DVD drive and wait for the Installation Wizard to appear.

2. Click the "Next" button and follow the instructions on the screen to install the software. Click the "Finish" button to complete the installation. Restart the computer if prompted.

3. Insert the USB connector on the USB TV tuner into a USB port on the laptop. Wait while Windows loads the software drivers for the device.

4. Plug one end of the AV Multi Out plug into the Nintendo Wii. Plug the other end of the cable into the audio and video jacks on the USB TV tuner.

5. Plug the power cord for the Nintendo Wii into a wall outlet. Press the power button on the console to turn it on.

6. Double-click the icon for the USB TV tuner software to open the program. Change the input option in the software until you see the picture from the Nintendo Wii.

Tips & Warnings

• The yellow plug on the AV Multi Out plug is for the video. The red and white plugs are for the audio.

• Change the resolution or size of the screen on the laptop if the picture needs to be adjusted.
