How to Restore Deleted XP System Files
When you delete files from the Windows XP operating system (OS), your computer does not simply erase them from the hard drive. Instead, the OS places the files in the Recycle Bin, a temporary holding location. The OS puts all deleted files, including user data files, system files, and application files in the Recycle Bin when you delete them. If you change your mind, you can restore deleted XP system files and any other files in the Recycle Bin using the Bin's Restore function.
