How to Rotate in Windows Picture Viewer
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in typically the default option for viewing images on a Windows operated computer system, especially while viewing image files in Windows Explorer. Often, when you upload images to your computer from a point-and-shoot camera or camera phone, those images with a vertical layout are sideways within the Windows Picture Viewer. Rotating them within the viewer will save the image files at the correct angle for future viewing.

Open Windows Explorer by clicking on the Start Menu and selecting "My Computer." You can also open Windows Explorer by hitting the Windows and "E" keys simultaneously.

Locate an image file and open it with Windows Picture Viewer. If the Viewer is your default for viewing images, then you need to double click on the image file. If it is not, simple right click on the image, select "Open With" from the pop-up menu and choose Windows Picture and Fax Viewer from the list.

Locate the action bar at the bottom of the image in Windows Picture Viewer. Select the icon that looks like two green triangles next to each other with a blue arrow. The arrow indicates whether the picture will rotate to the left or to the right by 90 degrees.

Click the rotate icon as many times as necessary to obtain the desired orientation of the image. Windows Picture Viewer will automatically save the new orientation with each rotation.

Tips & Warnings
You may receive a pop-up warning that rotating the image may permanently reduce the quality of the image. Check the box if you don't want to receive the message again and click "Yes" to proceed with rotating the image.
