How to Retrieve a Lost Application on an Imac Computer

The hard drive of an iMac allows for thousands of applications (programs) to be stored, some of which might be hidden inside a folder that is hidden inside of yet another folder. You can retrieve a "lost" application by using the built-in searching tool called "Spotlight" that comes with the Mac's OS X operating system. The "Spotlight" searching tool can be activated from the desktop with a single click of the mouse.

      Click once on the desktop with the mouse to make it "active." Click on the "Spotlight" icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

      Enter the name of the "lost" application in the blank text field that appears below the icon. Wait as a list of names appear in a drop-down window below the text field.

      Click on the name of the "lost" application that is listed in the window next to or beneath the "Applications" tab in the drop-down window.

      Right-click on the "lost" application's icon that is now in the Dock which is to the right or at the bottom of the screen.

      Select "Show in Finder" from the "Options" pop-up menu to display the "lost" application on the desktop.
