1
Measure the size of the window you are fitting. You should get one length and half of the window length and two extra inches for seams on the width. This fabric doesn't have to be anything special; it will be hidden behind your pictures as the lining for your curtains. You will need a dowel for every 12 inches of length.
-
2
Use an inch on each side for the seam of the Roman shades. You will need to pin it to hide the fringe and sew. Set the extra fabric length aside.

3
Use the extra fabric to cut strips three inches wide and as long as the Roman shade is wide. Sew these at every foot of length on the backside of the lining to make little pockets. Sew plastic rings in the center and outer edges of these pockets. Insert dowels into these pockets and sew up the edges.

4
Pin the sew-and-stitch Velcro to the top of the Roman shade. Use thread to sew it on. Stitch in the same direction on both sides to keep it from wrinkling.
-
5
Insert pictures of your choice into 4x6 transparencies that are intended for books. You can use the hole the binder rings go through as your stitching holes. Add the pictures at every four inches. This way, the picture layer covers the seams of the pictures beneath it. Continue this the entire way up. The dowels should be posed so they are between every three rows of pictures.
-
6
Affix the other side of the Velcro to the batten window frame structure and add the shades. Insert three eyelet screws into the batten to support the Velcro. These should align with the plastic rings of the Roman shades.
-
7
Cut the nylon cord into three pieces. Knot each piece to a bottom ring on the back of the shades. Lace it through the other plastic rings, bringing the cord to one side of the Roman shades. Loop this into a figure eight knot around the cleat.
