How to Remove the Alureon Virus

Alureon, sometimes referred to as Win32.Trojan.Alureon, is a malicious program that installs itself onto your computer without your consent. Once on your computer, Alureon opens a security hole that is used to download additional malware. Before your computer is overrun with malware, consider removing the Alureon virus. The removal steps apply to the Windows 7 and Windows Vista operating systems.

End Processes

  • Press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Escape" simultaneously to open the Windows Task Manager.

  • Click on the "Processes" tab and then click "Show Processes From All Users."

  • Right-click on "richtx64.exe" and select "End Process." If you are having trouble locating richtx64.exe, click on "Image Name" to view the list of processes in alphabetical order.

Delete Files

  • Click on the "Start" menu.

  • Type "richtx64.exe" into the "Search Programs and Files" box. Right-click on the matching file that appears in the results list and select "Delete."

  • Type "senekaovrgoend.sys" into the "Search Programs and Files" box. Right-click on the matching file that appears in the results list and select "Delete."
