How to Remove the Alureon Virus

Alureon, sometimes referred to as Win32.Trojan.Alureon, is a malicious program that installs itself onto your computer without your consent. Once on your computer, Alureon opens a security hole that is used to download additional malware. Before your computer is overrun with malware, consider removing the Alureon virus. The removal steps apply to the Windows 7 and Windows Vista operating systems.

Instructions

  1. End Processes

    • 1

      Press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Escape" simultaneously to open the Windows Task Manager.

      Click on the "Processes" tab and then click "Show Processes From All Users."

      Right-click on "richtx64.exe" and select "End Process." If you are having trouble locating richtx64.exe, click on "Image Name" to view the list of processes in alphabetical order.

    Delete Files

      Click on the "Start" menu.

      Type "richtx64.exe" into the "Search Programs and Files" box. Right-click on the matching file that appears in the results list and select "Delete."

      Type "senekaovrgoend.sys" into the "Search Programs and Files" box. Right-click on the matching file that appears in the results list and select "Delete."
