How to Enable Autoplay on a USB

"AutoPlay" is a function of the Windows operating system that allows devices that contain certain types of media to launch automatically when connected to your computer. If your USB flash drive or USB CD or DVD drive has an audio or video disc, for example, you can let AutoPlay automatically load the associated program and play the content. You can enable AutoPlay through the Windows Control Panel.

  • Click "Start."

  • Click "Control Panel."

  • Click "AutoPlay."

  • Scroll down to "Devices" and select your USB flash drive, hard drive or optical disc drive. Use the drop-down menu to specify which program you'd like to use with the "AutoPlay" functionality of that device.

  • Click "OK" to enable AutoPlay on your USB device.
