How to Resize Images in Paint thumbnail
You can easily resize an image in Microsoft Paint.

Microsoft Paint is a convenient application for completing simple graphics projects and editing digital images. If you have a digital image that needs to be re-sized in order to fit onto a printed page or inside an email attachment, you can easily use the Microsoft Paint program to make the desired changes. With a little practice, you will soon be proficient at sizing images in MS Paint, even if you have never edited a digital image before.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Paint. Click the "Start" button, and then select "Paint" from the "Accessories" menu under "All Programs."

    • 2

Click the "Paint" button at the top of the Paint window, and then select "Open" from the drop-down menu. Browse to and click on the image file you need to resize in Paint.

    • 3

Click "Image," then select "Resize" from the "Home" tab.

    • 4

Check the "Maintain aspect ratio" option in the "Resize and Skew" box. This will prevent the image from stretching or shrinking unevenly.

    • 5

Click "Percentage" to change either the horizontal or the vertical dimension by a certain percentage. Enter the new percentage in the horizontal or vertical dimension box, and the other dimension will automatically adjust.

    • 6

Click "Pixels" to set a specific new size for the image. Enter the desired new size in either the horizontal or vertical dimension box, and the other dimension will automatically adjust.

    • 7

Save the resized file under a different name by clicking "Paint," then "Save as." Enter a new file name for the resized file so that the original file will be preserved intact. You may need the original file in the event that future changes need to be made.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid enlarging an image if the image will be printed--this may result in pixellation of the printed image.
