How to Set Up Port Forwarding in Linksys

How to Set Up Port Forwarding in Linksys thumbnail
Input and output ports are on the back of Linksys routers.

Port forwarding is used for programs such as FTP gateways and video games that require web access. For port forwarding with Linksys routers to work after rebooting your system, a static IP address is required. If you're unsure of yours, visit the My IP Address website (see Resources). Once you have it, the process of setting up port forwarding is not complicated.

Things You'll Need

Open your web browser, type "192.168.1.1" and press "Enter."

Click the "Security" tab in the Linksys web portal.

    • 4

Remove the check for "Block Anonymous Internet Requests" and then click "Save Settings."

    • 5
