How to Project a PowerPoint From a Computer

How to Project a PowerPoint From a Computer thumbnail
A projector can be used to provide presentations on a large scale.

Computer screens are constantly growing in size, but a projector allows you to display images, videos and presentations on a much larger screen than any computer. This is useful for presentations in a classroom or a meeting so that everyone doesn't have to squint and strain to see a tiny computer screen. Projectors are built almost entirely with computers in mind and thus are designed to integrate seamlessly with computers for quick set up.

Instructions

  1. Via VGA

    • 1

For desktop users, disconnect the monitor from the machine and use the VGA cable to attach the computer to the projector. For laptop users, connect the VGA cable to the VGA port on the side or back of the laptop. VGA is the native display output for computers, therefore it is the best option when projecting something on a projector.

    • 2

Turn your projector on with either the remote or by pressing the button on the machine.

    • 3

Adjust the projector to the "VGA" input.

    • 4

Wait while the computer's video card recognizes the projector. For laptops, it will present the same screen on the projector and the laptop at the same time. Desktops will recognize the projector as the sole monitor and project the image through the projector.

    • 5

Open PowerPoint and start your presentation.

    Via Composite, S-Video or HDMI

    • 6

Insert the Composite, HDMI,or S-Video cable into the appropriate slot on your computer and attach the other end to the projector.

    • 7

Turn the projector on and adjust it to the appropriate input, either "Video", "S-Video" or "HDMI."

    • 8

Wait for the computer and the projector to exchange information and display the image.

    • 9

Open PowerPoint and being your presentation.
