How to Assemble the Wagner Power Roller Plus

A Wagner Paintmate Plus is a power roller for applying paint to walls and ceilings that requires little fill time. A round plunger handle pulls back to apply pressure to the paint fill tube and sucks the paint into the large round body of the roller. The paint stores in this area and exits the power roller through the roller cover to paint items. This eliminates the need for messy paint trays and drips of paint while adding more paint to the roller. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the paint roller cover onto the roller core so it covers the core completely.

    • 2

Press the round plastic end cap on the end of the roller cover. The end cap presses into the center of the roller cover. This completes the roller assembly.

    • 3

Hold the roller arm in one hand and the roller assembly in the other. Press the clip on the roller arm to open it. Slide the roller assembly onto the arm and release the clip. This will lock the roller assembly onto the arm.

    • 4

Hold the arm and roller assembly in one hand and the handle in the other. Depress both locking tabs on the handle and slide the roller onto the handle. Release the locking tabs to lock the handle onto the arm.

    • 5

Hold the power roller with the handle on the floor and the roller assembly tilting toward you. Snap the spatter shield onto the roller assembly with the opening of the two U-shaped ends facing the roller assembly. There is an audible click when the shield is in place.

    • 6

Remove the lid from a can of paint. Mix the paint thoroughly.

    • 7

Place the Wagner power roller paint lid on the can and tap it down securely with a hammer.

    • 8

Push the small end of the paint tube into the hole in the paint can lid. Press the tube to the bottom of the can.

    • 9

Spread a small amount of petroleum jelly on the fill tube that is protruding from the paint can.

    • 10

Press the main fill valve on the bottom of the paint roller firmly onto the tube protruding from the can.

    • 11

Pull back the round plunger handle on the end of the paint handle to suck paint into the roller.

    • 12

Release the plunger handle and pull the main fill valve off the paint can to start painting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Placing petroleum jelly on the paint-can fill tube will allow the tool to slide on and off the tube for quick refills.

  • The splatter guard catches paint that may drip when painting overhead to reduce spills on the floor and the painter.

  • Always remove the paint from the tube after each use. Paint left in the tube will lead to dry paint flecks being deposited with the next paint job.
