How to Use Mass Email Marketing
Mass email marketing can be done through traditional email programs such as Outlook, Apple Mail or a web-based email service providers such as Gmail, Yahoo!, and others, or through an email marketing service provider such as Constant Contact, Mail Chimp or iContact. The basic steps are the same for either, but email marketing service providers can offer services that traditional computer-based or web-based email programs can not, such as email marketing statistics, automatic list generation and management, and scheduled emailings.

Composing your Email
-
1
Determine the purpose of your marketing email and compose it accordingly. If this email's purpose is solely to identify or promote your business, include all the necessary information about your company's products, services and operating location. If you are sending this email to promote a sale, event or other time-sensitive information, be sure to relay the urgency or indicate a "call to action" in the email.
-
2
Clearly identify who the email is from to prevent being labeled as spam.
-
-
3
Create a succinct subject line free of spam triggers such as: special characters (#, $, %, etc.), unnatural punctuation (multiple exclamation points or question marks) or capitalization.
-
4
Include your full contact information in the email to make it easy for people to contact you.
-
5
Format the email in a style that can be easily viewed in mobile browsers. Stay away from imaged-based emails, or emails with only html formatting. If you have to compose your messages using only HTML or images, be sure your email service provider or program allows for text only formatting and make a text-only format available for recipients, should they need it.
Sending your message
-
6
Send a test message to yourself.
-
7
Check your test message for errors and correct it accordingly.
-
8
Enter, import or select your email list, to which you want to send your email, in the recipients field. Make sure this is an opt-in list, people or business that have requested to receive emails from you. It's poor direct marketing etiquette to send emails to those who didn't authorize it, and it can result in you being labeled as a spammer.
-
9
Send your email.
