How to Donate to the Jolie Pitt Foundation
The Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation (MJP) is a charitable body, created by Hollywood superstar couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and named, in part, for their first son, Maddox Chivan, an orphan adopted in Cambodia. The foundation is devoted to helping rural Cambodians living in poverty through community-development projects. Their programs involve health care, education, agriculture, micro-businesses, conservation and rural planning. If you would like to support MJP initiatives there are many ways to help, either through in-kind donations or by volunteering your time and energy.

A minimum three-month commitment is required. If you do not have the flexibility in your life to leave family and/or work for three months to participate directly in the MJP's development work, you can still support the cause through in-kind donations. The website states that 100 percent of donations go directly into field programs. Field programs include the protection of the Samlout National Park's endangered species, forests and ecosystems and a multitude of on-going development projects to address poverty and disease among rural Cambodians. If you want to be a volunteer in Cambodia, think about what kind of project you'd like to work on and do some research on living and volunteering in rural Cambodia to make sure it's something you want to do. Living in a developing country is very different from a modern western society. You will need to be prepared to adapt to cultural differences and another way of life.
There are always people who will take advantage of others who are trying to be charitable. You can rest easy that the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation is a registered charity with the Foundation Center. Money orders, wire transfers and PayPal are reputable sources for sending money overseas.
