How to Make Gmail Smileys

Use Gmail emoticons to express yourself.

Emoticons are expressive icons used in text messages and email that help you convey emotion. Gmail has an extensive library of emoticons that can be added to Gmail messages, such as smiley faces and sad faces. Adding emotions to your Gmail only takes a second.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Gmail account.

2. Click "Compose Mail" on the left to begin a new email.

3. Fill out the "To:" field and "Subject:" field as normal.

4. Click the "Insert Emoticon" icon located on the email toolbar located just above the main body.

5. Click on the emoticon that suits your mood. Switch from square to round emoticons by toggling between the square and round icon located at the bottom of your emoticon pane. Close the emoticon pane by clicking the "Insert Emoticon" icon.
