How to Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes

If you are having trouble with iTunes on your computer, the best thing you can probably do is uninstall it and reinstall it. Some files may have become corrupted. After transferring your iTunes files to your computer to back them up, you can safely uninstall and reinstall iTunes to resolve any issues you may be having.

      Click the “Start” menu.

      Open the “Control Panel.”

      Select “Uninstall a Program” or “Programs and Features” on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. In Windows XP, select “Add or Remove a Program.”

      Select “iTunes.”

      Confirm that you want to uninstall iTunes.

    Reinstall

      Open your web browser and navigate to the Apple homepage.

      Click the “iTunes Free Download” button.

      Choose your operating system and click “Download Now.”

      Select to “Run” the installer.

Tips & Warnings

  • To remove iTunes on a Mac, drag and drop the iTunes icon into the “Trash.”
