Hooking up computer speakers to your television is a way to improve the sound.

Many televisions lag behind in audio performance, with small built-in speakers that don't give you very good sound. A simple way to upgrade the performance of your television's audio is to add a set of computer speakers to your set. In most cases it'll improve the audio performance of your television. If your television has an audio output--common to most recent models--you can make this upgrade.

      Plug the dual RCA plugs of the adapter cable into the audio output jacks located on the back of the television. Match the color coding of the adapter cable and the RCA jacks of the audio output.

      Plug the audio cable of the computer speakers into the other end of the adapter cable.

      Place one speaker on either side of the television. Route the wire that connects them together behind the television.

      Plug the computer speakers into a wall outlet.

      Set the audio output of the television to "variable" and the internal speakers to "off." Do this through the menu of the television.

      Turn the computer speakers on, and set the volume to about 50 percent. Volume changes are made through the television.
