How to Delete Mozilla Search History

Mozilla's Firefox web browser has a search history feature that retains a record of your most recent Internet searches. When clicked, this mechanism produces a drop-down list of the last sites you visited so you have the option to access them again. While this log can be convenient, you can remove it to help protect your privacy and clear up space on your computer. You can use the settings on your Firefox browser to delete Mozilla search history.

Instructions

    • 1

      Launch Mozilla Firefox.

    • 2

Locate the search bar input field to the right of the address (or location) bar at the top of the browser window. The search bar is the area where you enter your search terms.

    • 3

Right-click on the search field to bring up the drop-down menu. Otherwise, if using a Mac, press the "CTRL" button on the keyword and simultaneously click on the search bar.

    • 4

Select the "Clear Search History" option from the menu to remove all the items currently stored in your search history. Alternately, delete single items by clicking on the search bar, pressing the down arrow on your keyboard to highlight the desired title and then pressing the "Delete" (Windows) or "Shift" and "Delete" (Mac) buttons on your keyboard to remove the lone entry.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can prevent Firefox from keeping a record of your search history. Click "Options" under the "Tools" menu (Windows) or "Preferences" under the "Firefox" menu (Mac), then click the "Privacy" tab on the top of the dialog window and select "Never Remember History" under the "History" section.
